I got into drag, ran to the audition in between a two show day at Kinky Boots, and had to tell a story in character as Yitzhak. So I told them this backstory where Yitzhak was from this small town in Croatia that was the sole producer of the yak hair for the wigs for Cats on Broadway. The town went under when Cats closed, and his mother died in a big fire because she had hoarded all the yak hair and died from smoking a cigar near it, and what was left over was a tape from Rent the Musical, and this was my mother’s way to tell me to go after my dreams and be on Broadway on Rent. So I go to New York and it’s closed, and in its place is Newsies. So my reasoning for Yitzhak being in the audition room, was that he was trying to get them to donate to his Kickstarter to bring Rent back on Broadway so he could star as Angel. And after this monologue I played my video and it was dead quiet, no one laughed, and then later I found out randomly that I got the job!
